Who is Mike Sumsky?

Hi, I’m Mike Sumsky. Here are some fun facts about me.

I am a full-time real estate investor in the Bremerton, WA area. I started learning about investing like many others, by purchasing a course on a late-night infomercial. That was back in 2001. I dabbled with investing for three years (i.e. – didn’t buy any houses), not really having any sort of direction and letting fear get in my way.

It all changed when I met a few ‘real life’ investors (not just those guys in Hawaiian shirts in the commercials) who were buying houses creatively, with none of their own cash or credit, and they were making a bunch of money doing it. They turned me on to a local real estate investing club here in Washington State (REAPS). My world changed, and with that I actually started to take action to implement the things that I had learned (novel thought, huh?)

I bought my first investment property in October of 2004, then my second in December of 2004, and my third in January of 2005. It snowballed from there and I ultimately quit my day job selling medical devices in order to invest full-time. I have now done over 130 deals and counting, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Since my first REAPS meeting in 2003, my life has come full circle and I am now the group leader of the REAPS Kitsap chapter, as well as a board member. I teach real estate investing, and occasionally take on 1-on-1 mentoring clients.

When I’m not flipping houses, you can find me sitting in a coffee shop, wine tasting with my wife, playing golf, or spending time outdoors.

I hope you enjoy my blog.

Hi Scott, glad to connect. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help. I’m looking for deals so if you have anything to wholesale, let me know.

    Dear Mike,

I would like to meet you some day so we can talk, I want to learn real estate. But for now I have a question for you, please.
We are looking for a very cheap rent to own home in Auburn. So my question is:
    - What is the easiest way to find a rent to own home?
    - It seems like a fee gets to be paid to have access to listings. Is it that right?

    Best Greetings,
